You can make them in minutes by painting old wine corks and adding on little details with black felt.
Did you also know a flock of penguins on land is called a Waddle? Why not make your very own Waddle to decorate your tabletop and enjoy?
Summary:
Time: 15 minutes
Ages: Little kids to big kids
Difficulty: Easy peasy
You will need:
- Wine corks
- White and black paint – acrylic paints work best
- Paint brush
- Black and yellow felt
- Scissors
- Glue gun or strong PVA glue
Step 1: Paint your cork white
Paint one side of your cork with white acrylic paint. You will need a couple of coats to get a nice even cover.
Step 2: Paint it black
Now use black paint to cover the rest of the cork, leaving a little elongated heart shape of white showing.
This is the penguin’s white front.
Step 3: Cut out some felt shapes
Cut some little wings out of black felt.
Then cut out a pair of feet and a little triangle beak from yellow felt.
Step 4: Glue on the wings, feet and beak
Glue the wings to the side of your cork, the two feet to the bottom and the little beak in the middle.
A glue gun works really well for this. If you don’t have one use strong PVA glue.
We even cut an extra shape from black felt and stuck it on the top of our penguin to give him a funky hairdo.
Step 5: Draw on some eyes
All your penguin needs now is a pair of eyes.
Paint them on or draw them on with black pen.
