Little Leaf Bugs
What you need:
A selection of leaves
Acrylic paints
Paintbrushes
Step 1: Gather Leaves
Gather leaves on a family walk. Look for different shapes, sizes and colours.
If your leaves are a bit curled up or you plan to paint them the next day then pop them between some heavy books to flatten them out.
Step 2: Paint the backgrounds
Paint the backgrounds of the leaves with bright colours.
Acrylic paint works best. As the leaves soak in the paint you will need two coats for the most even coverage.
Step 3: Jazz them up!
Start adding little details to decorate, such as spots, strips, wiggles and zigzags.
You can make your leaves into funny bugs, colourful fish or even brightly plumed birds, such as our colourful peacock.
Add the eyes and finer details to make your little leaf bugs look really fabulous!
