Summary:
Time: 5 minutes
Age: Toddlers to Little kids
Difficulty: Easy peasy
As they paint their letter your child will become more familiar with its shape and appearance. The finished letters look lovely mounted on card. Or you could frame one to hang on your child’s bedroom door too.
You will need:
- Card
- Paints
- Pen
- Scissors
Step 1: Draw a letter
On a piece of card draw a letter in bubble writing. It could be the first letter of your child’s name, or a letter that has a nice easy shape.
We recommend starting with lower case letters first. These will be the letters your child will start with at school.
Step 2: Cut it out to make a template
Carefully cut out the inside of the letter to leave a card template.
Step 3: Start finger printing
Lay the letter template on top of a piece of card. You can use masking tape or blue tac to hold it steady if you like.
Now your child should dip their fingertip in paint and start making lots of prints, all over the letter.
Step 4: Add some more colour
Wipe your child’s finger and let them choose another colour to make prints with.
Step 5: The big reveal
Let your child cover the entire letter shape with finger prints.
Then carefully lift off the template to reveal their finished fingerprint letter painting. Ta- dah!
