Smoked salmon pinwheels – our step by step guide:
Start with the tortilla
Lay your tortilla on a clean work surface and spread a thick layer of cream cheese over it, leaving a small border free of cream cheese.
You want this layer to be fairly thick so that when you cut into your pinwheel you have thick and defined layers.
Sprinkle on some dill
Sprinkle some dill on top of the cream cheese. You can use as much or as little as you like.
If you want to add some extra thickness to this layer you can also use a bit of spinach as well.
Add the smoked salmon
Take your smoked salmon out of the packet and tear it into strips.
Layer them over the top of the dill.
Add a squeeze of lemon juice
Squeeze some lemon juice over the top of the salmon.
Don’t use too much or your tortilla will get a bit soggy; you want just enough to get that great tangy lemony flavour which goes so well with dill and salmon.
Make your salmon roll up
Roll the tortilla up tightly as you would sushi.
At this point you can either cut your pinwheels and serve, or you can wrap the uncut tortilla roll in cling film and put it in the fridge until your party guests arrive.
Then all you need to do is quickly cut the rounds a few minutes before the party starts.
Enjoy these fun and healthy smoked salmon pinwheels as a healthy snack or lunch box addition!
Or as great party food for kids parties!
