Both the NuFACE Mini and the NuFACE Trinity are microcurrent facial devices.

This means that they deliver a small electrical current to the skin and muscles of the face. This current can help make the face look more lifted and improve skin texture.

NuFACE Trinity and Mini are facial toning devices that passes a very small current of 335 microamps, through the skin and muscles of the face.

When this current goes through all of the skin’s layers, it stimulates the skin’s cells. This makes them produce more of the proteins collagen and elastin, which help skin to look plumper and more youthful.

How to Use NuFACE

In order to start the treatment you first apply their gel primer to the face, until the area of the skin you’re about to work on is covered.

You then glide the device over that part of the face in upward motions, moving between 3 different positions. You repeat these positions 3 times until you hear the beep. The device beeps every 5 seconds.

Can You Use NuFACE Mini Under Eyes?

While you can use the NuFACE mini on the cheekbones and area around the eyes you can’t use it directly under the eyes.

For this you need the ELE attachment (Effective Lip and Eye) which can only clip onto the NuFACE Trinity.

The reason the mouth and eye areas can’t be used with the regular NuFACE attachment (the silver balls) is because they are circular muscles so they need to be treated with an attachment that can move in the same direction.

If you’re set on a NuFACE Mini you can get the FIX device separately to use around the eyes.

This is a good solution but it does have a slightly slower microamp output than the NuFACE Trinity ELE attachment, at 200 vs 335 microamps.

The treatment from the FIX also doesn’t penetrate as deeply as the NuFACE devices so it works more on the layers of the skin rather than going down to the muscle too.

NuFACE Trinity Attachments

The NuFACE Trinity is the larger of the two devices at 5″ long.

While the original NuFACE Trinity has the same strength as the NuFACE mini at 335 microamps, the newer NuFACE Trinity PRO has a slightly higher intensity at 400 microamps.

The main advantage of the Trinity however is that you can add on different attachments so that you can treat specific areas of concern like:

• Eye and lip area (with the ELE attachment)
• Fine lines and wrinkles (with the Wrinkle Reducer attachment for red LED treatment )

You can purchase the NuFACE Trinity on its own, or with one of these two attachments, or with both of the attachments. They offer any combination.

My Experience with NuFACE

I have been using the NuFACE Trinity for about 4 weeks after it was recommended to me by a friend.

I have mainly used the main microcurrent attachment (the ‘silver balls’) so far and I set the device to the highest level.

I recently started using the ELE attachment for the eye and smile line areas but this has only been over the last week.

Personally I’ve seen a significant difference in my face. As many reviewers have also found, my face seems more ‘lifted’ and toned. I can see some more definition around my cheekbones and the muscles of the face generally feel firmer.

I also found that my skin has become much smoother too. Before starting the treatments I used to get small spots. But since using NuFACE they’ve all cleared up and the skin texture seems much more even.

In terms of the ELE attachment, although it’s only been a week I have noticed a firming of the skin around the eyes already. It seems a bit thicker and more plump.

I have not used it around eye lids and eyebrows but in the areas that I have used it on (cheekbones, lips, eyes, forehead and neck) I do see a noticeable difference, so I would recommend it to friends and family. My mother is even about to purchase her own NuFACE as well as she’s seen the difference in my skin.

I would summarise the Pros as being:

• Ease of use. 5 minutes in the morning or evening is really very little for something that brings you visible results.
• Facial sculpting. I liked this effect the most as I felt my face looked more lifted and the cheekbones more pronounced.
• Smoother, softer skin. Any small spots I had disappeared and my skin also feels smoother and I would even say silkier.
• Younger look. I find my skin generally looks more refreshed and more youthful,
• Painless treatment. Other than the occasional twinge, especially as you move the device towards the hairline, I haven’t noticed any pain or irritation after using it. I do use a generous amount of the NuFACE gel each time.

If I could improve anything I would say:

• It would be nice if you didn’t have to change attachments and if you could use the same attachment for the face and eye areas. At the moment I have to switch to the ELE attachment to do under the eyes and the smile lines as these areas need a different head.

Otherwise I’ve found it a convenient and effective solution for those tell-tale signs of aging, so I’m very grateful to my friend for recommending it.

Is NuFACE Mini as good as NuFACE Trinity?

NuFACE Mini is as good as the standard NuFACE Trinity for the main face and neck areas as it has the same maximum output at 335 microamps. It’s popular as a petite and portable device that gives you microcurrent facial treatments at home, at a lower price to the Trinity.

Where the NuFACE Trinity outperforms the NuFACE Mini is that it can be used with other attachments to target the area around the eyes and lips, while the NuFACE Mini cannot. As well as the ELE attachment, the NuFACE Trinity can also be used with the red LED treatment attachment (the Wrinkle Reducer).

The NuFACE Trinity PRO also has a slightly higher output at 400 microamps (vs the 335 microamps) so if you’re looking at this model this could also offer you an advantage over the NuFACE Mini.

Personally I prefer the flexibility of the NuFACE Trinity with the option of using the different attachments. This is mainly because I’m interested in the area around the eyes and on the smile lines. I also like knowing that I can use the red LED treatment attachment in the future if I wanted to.

Who shouldn’t use NuFACE?

According to NuFACE their facial toning devices should not be used if you’re pregnant, have a pacemaker or an electronic implanted device, are suffering from active cancer or have epilepsy or if you’re under the age of 18.

Does NuFACE help with wrinkles?

The facial toning device is better for toning and firming but the microcurrent does help with the production of collagen and elastin too. Their Wrinkle Reducer attachment is used to target visible wrinkles and reduce their appearance.

What are the NuFACE side effects?

You may feel some tingling or small ‘shocks’ when using the device. This is the electrical current and is usually normal.

There are some other side effects which are unusual and quite mild. These may be nausea and drowsiness but these are rare cases.
