Wholewheat Chickpea Crackers
Step by step guide
Blend the chick peas and garlic
Prepare the oven by setting on 180°C fan setting.
Open the canned chick peas and wash well with water. Drain and place in a blender together with the 2 garlic cloves.
Blend well. You should end up with a slightly crumbly mixture.
Add the remaining ingredients
Add in half a cup of wholewheat flour, half a cup of rolled oats, 6 tablespoons olive oil, half a teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds.
Blend until combined. You should have a slightly sticky dough that’s still a little crumbly.
Roll out the dough
On a large flat surface, cut out two sheets of parchment paper. If you don’t have parchment paper, cling film can work too.
Spoon the dough onto the first sheet of parchment paper.
Cover it with the second sheet and roll the dough out with a rolling pin until about half a cm thick.
Cut out your crackers
Cut your crackers into whatever shape you prefer.
We have made ours into squares, but you could make yours into long thin rectangles, or even heart or star shapes using cookie cutters.
Place on a non-stick tray or on parchment paper on a baking tray.
Cook for 20 minutes
Cook on the middle shelf of your preheated oven for about twenty minutes or until slightly golden.
Remove and enjoy!
