Step 2: Start arranging the petals

Separate the petals from the flowers and set them next to some glue and paper.

If it helps you can draw the outline of a heart on the paper in pencil.

Arrange the petals of one colour along the outline of your heart.

Then arrange another colour of petals in a heart shape within the outline. Continue adding smaller and smaller hearts until you reach the middle.

Petal Butterfly Craft

Glue 2 twigs to each other to act as the butterfly’s ‘body’.

Add 4 leaves each pointing out from the middle to make the 4 parts of the butterfly’s wings.

Place the colourful petals along the leaves to add some colour.

You have a little DIY butterfly.

Flower petal art is so versatile that it can allow your child to really get creative. They may end up creating pictures and creatures of their own.

Help younger children by drawing an outline of what it is they want to make on paper. Then let them fill it in with petals.

From rainbows to fairies, from fish to dinosaurs. The possibilities are endless.
