Even the most organised of us can end up in a mad panic some mornings. If you’re used to making fresh fruit purees for baby, then it can be stressful when you realise there’s no time to cook them their usual brekkie.

This no cook baby puree has a few simple fruits that can be whizzed together to make an instant puree from scratch. We’ve used blueberries, banana and soft, ripe pears, but if you don’t have pears that are soft enough, you can leave these out and make it just the blueberries and banana.

Baby will love this dish just as much as the steamed purees!

Making purees for baby

Baby purees are a great way to introduce first foods.

You can start by making them nice and runny. Then slowly thicken them up as your baby gets older and more familiar with the concept of eating with a spoon instead of a bottle.

You can either feed them purees exclusively or you can give them bits of finger foods to handle at meals times together with their bowl of puree.

Go with whatever works for you and whatever your baby prefers.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • ½ cup blueberries (65 grams)
  • ½ medium pear, soft and ripe
  • water or baby’s usual milk

Instructions

  1. Wash the blueberries and pear well.
  2. Peel the banana and pear. Chop them into rough cubes and place in a blender.
  3. Add enough water or baby’s milk to reach your baby’s preferred consistency. We recommend adding water bit by bit and adjusting.
  4. Blend until smooth and serve.

Our step by step guide:
