New Smile Aligner Review

Amanda Brown

How you feel about your smile can have a big impact on your day-to-day life. The American Dental Association found that 25% of adults in the US actually avoid smiling to hide their mouth and teeth. (1)

If you’ve been unhappy with crooked or gappy teeth, then teeth straightening treatments could provide a much-needed confidence boost.

Traditionally teeth were always straightened using braces. But this is not the best option for everyone.

Firstly braces can be expensive, and in-office appointments take up a lot of time.

On top of this, the thought of visible metal braces might make you feel self-conscious, especially as the average time braces need to be worn is around two years.

Why Use Home Aligners?

Home aligners are more convenient than traditional braces for a number of reasons.

1

1

Teeth straightening treatments can be done entirely from home

A recent study asked people who had not been to the dentist in over a year why this was the case. 59% said this was due to the high cost, and 19% said the locations or times of dentist appointments were inconvenient. (2)

With home aligners, you can straighten your teeth from the comfort of your own home without the time or expense of trips to an orthodontist. This can be a big benefit if you have a busy schedule or are juggling family life and work.

2

2

Home aligners tend to be much more affordable

Home aligners can be much cheaper than traditional braces.

Where braces cost around $5,000-$6,000 on average, the cost of most home aligner treatments falls between the range of approximately $1,100-$2,500.

3

3

No travel time is needed for treatment check-ups

Home aligners also remove the need for time-consuming in-office appointments, so you haven’t got to worry about making space in your busy schedule to travel to the orthodontist (or spend time in the waiting room).

Instead, check-ups are done remotely, where your progress is reviewed by a qualified professional.

4

4

Aligners are transparent and much less noticeable than traditional braces

Home aligners are also very discreet.

They are invisible aligners are made with clear plastic, so they sit on your teeth like a transparent layer.

As a result, they can be barely noticeable to others as you wear them throughout the day.

Is Everyone Eligible for Home Aligners?

Although home aligners are suitable for correcting many teeth misalignment issues, not every case will be suitable. To see if you’re eligible with NewSmile you can complete a smile assessment on their website: here.

Then NewSmile will tell you if your particular condition is suitable for their home aligner courses.

Although everyone’s treatment options are assessed on a case-by-case basis, in general, home aligners are most effective at treating mild to moderate cases of teeth misalignment, such as teeth with gaps, slight overbite, or underbite, and crowded teeth.

How do Invisible Aligners Straighten Teeth?

Invisible aligners work in a similar way to traditional braces by applying gentle pressure to your teeth.

Over time, this gentle pressure repositions your teeth to a straighter position.

Do Invisible Aligners Really Work?

Invisible aligners do work for eligible candidates and can give some great results, as shown by the tens of thousands of positive customer reviews online.

Invisible aligners can be most effective in correcting mild to moderate teeth misalignment.

Although there are limitations to what invisible aligners can achieve, a study found that:

Both clear aligners and braces were effective in treating malocclusion.

Malocclusion is often referred to as “bad bite,” “irregular bite,” “crossbite,” or “overbite.” (3)

Wear Aligners Every Day

NewSmile all-day aligners need to be worn for 22 hours per day.

Their night aligners need to be worn for 10 hours every night.

You’ll need to remove your aligners when eating or when drinking anything other than water.

After Treatment, Wear Retainers to Maintain Your New Straight Teeth

As with all teeth straightening treatments, you’ll need to wear retainers afterward to maintain your results.

NewSmile recommend that you wear your retainers for 22 hours per day for six months after your treatment. After this, once you no longer feel any tightness or pressure when putting on your retainers, you can switch to wearing them in the evenings at home and while you sleep.

Your first set of retainers come included with your NewSmile treatment, but you’ll need to purchase any follow-up retainers after this. Follow-up retainers typically cost $149 a set.

Who Can Have NewSmile Aligners?

It’s also a good idea to consult with your dentist or orthodontist before purchasing any home aligners. That way, you can be sure that home aligners are suitable for you and that you have no underlying conditions which the treatment could worsen.

Is NewSmile Worth It?

NewSmile is worth it if you are looking for a reliable and affordable way to straighten crooked teeth or close gaps between teeth. Many satisfied customer reviews show that NewSmile can provide quick and efficient results.

Their at-home treatment is also ideal for those of us with busy schedules. By removing the need for in-office appointments, you don’t have to spend any time in waiting rooms or traveling to your orthodontist.

However, if you have more complex teeth straightening needs or underlying conditions, it’s best to see an orthodontist before starting remote aligner treatments.

For mild to moderate teeth straightening needs, NewSmile can quickly tell you whether or not you’re suitable for their aligner treatments.

After sending them an impression kit of your teeth, if it turns out that you’re not suitable for treatment, NewSmile offer to refund you the cost of the impression kit. So there is no harm in taking the assessment to see if you’re a good case for clear aligners.
