How do I make apple, broccoli and carrot puree?

You start by preparing the ingredients – in this case peeling and chopping the apple and carrot. The broccoli can be separated into smaller broccoli florets.

Then steam or boil the ingredients for 10 minutes until soft. Steaming is said to be better at keeping the nutrients in the foods but either way works.

Then place the cooked pieces in a blender with a little water and blend until smooth. If you need to you can add some more water until you get your baby’s preferred consistency.

Let them enjoy a hearty little meal!

How thick should I make baby’s purees?

If baby is just starting out with purees they may prefer them to be more watery at first.

Over the next few weeks and months you can slowly make the puree a little thicker.

Eventually it can even be a bit lumpy to get baby used to mashing soft chunks of food around in their mouth.

If you want to prepare baby for finger foods, you can also offer some steamed carrot, apple or broccoli as long sticks or chunks of food alongside the puree.

That way baby can play with and try to eat the soft chunks while also getting the nutrition from the pureed meal.
