Keep kids on track with this ‘do it/done it’ morning routine chart.
Summary
Time: 15 minutes
Age: Toddlers to Big kids
Difficulty: Easy peasy
You will need:
- Card
- Felt pens
- Scissors
- Blue tac
Step 1: Make your task cards
Cut squares or rectangles of card and on each draw a task that you need your child to do each morning.
If you’re not keen on drawing them out, you can always print out clip art images for each task card and glue them onto your cards.
You might want to include task cards for brushing teeth, getting dressed, brushing hair and getting their coat and shoes on.
Step 2: Make the ‘done it’ doors
Cut squares or rectangles out of a different coloured card.
Make a small fold at the bottom of your card. Then glue along the fold and stick it onto a task card, so that it makes a little door or flap.
Write the word ‘Done’ on the outer side of the card.
Step 3: Place blue tac on each flap
Pop a little ball of blue tac on each ‘door’ so that once your child has carried out a task he or she can close the door to show that they have ‘done it’.
Step 4: Glue all of your task cards onto a large piece of card
Glue your task card in a sensible order on a large sheet of card.
Hang your finished task board in the hallway so your child can use it each morning to see what they need to do before leaving the house.
Each task they do they can go their task board and close the door to show they have ‘done it’.
So there you are, school mornings simplified!
May it be the start of more stress free morning routines…
