Summary:
Time: 10 minutes
Age: Little kids to Big kids
Difficulty: Easy peasy
You will need:
- Paper rolls
- Black, yellow and white paint – acrylic works best
- Paintbrush
- Black card
- Bubble wrap
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
- Glue
Step 1: Paint the paper rolls yellow
Paint your toilet rolls all over with yellow paint.
We used acrylic paint, which covers the card well in a thick layer.
You may need to do 2 coats to get a nice finish.
Step 2: Paint on some black stripes
Paint black stripes along your paper roll.
You can either make very neat, straight stripes or use brushstrokes to make fuzzy edges on your stripes, like we did.
Step 3: Cut out circles for the head
Cut circles out of black card and then snip little triangles all the way along the edge to make your bee’s fuzzy face.
Step 4: Add the eyes and mouth
Glue the bee’s ‘face’ to the front end of your tube. Then stick on two google eyes and paint on a smile.
Step 5: Make the wings
Cut wing shapes from bubble wrap.
Then cut a little strip of card to stick to your wings and provide some support so they don’t flop down.
Step 6: Give your bee wings and antennae
Glue the wings onto the back of your bee.
To finish of your buzzy bee craft, cut long, thin strips of black card. Curl one end over onto themselves to make little feelers for your bee and stick them on behind it’s ‘face’.
Your bee is all ready to buzz off.
