Can you freeze mango and banana puree?
Yes you can freeze this puree for up to 3 months. We recommend freezing it as soon as it’s blended, to prevent the banana from turning brown. So blend it just before freezing (or serving).

- ½ ripe mango
- ½ banana
Instructions
- Peel your mango. Cut it into rough pieces and place in a steamer or in a babyfood machine to steam.
- Steam for about 10 minutes or until soft and cooked through.
- Place in a blender. Add in the banana and a little sterilised water.
- Blend until smooth. Add more water gradually as needed to get your desired consistency.
Some notes:
As the banana can go brown quickly, we recommend blending just before serving.
When they first start weaning, babies usually prefer their purees to be very runny so you may want to add more water. When it’s runny it seems more like the texture to milk to baby. That way baby can focus more on the new tastes as well as getting used to ‘eating’ off of a spoon.
Every week you can gradually make it a little thicker until it’s a thick liquid that baby can enjoy as a puree.
If you would like to add some finger foods for baby then you can do this right alongside the puree. After steaming, put a few mango pieces to one side and place the rest in the blender. Cut these pieces to a suitable size for baby to be able to pick up (baton shapes work well) and you can let baby grab, pick up and explore it, at the same time as having their puree.
Mango and banana puree – our step by step guide:
Steam the mango pieces
Peel and cut the half mango into rough cubes.
Place in a sieve or steamer over boiling water and steam for 10 minutes until soft and squishy.
If you have a babyfood maker which steams and blends the food, you can use this to steam the pieces.
Blend mango, banana and water
Place the steamed mango in a blender.
Add in the half banana, cut into rough chunks.
Add enough water to get your desired consistency for your baby (recommend starting with less and adding more as you blend).
Blend until nice and smooth.
Serve straight after blending and let baby enjoy this Mango and banana puree!
