How to prepare a no cook baby puree

These instant purees mean that you can just chop the ingredients and pop them in a blender with some water. A few seconds later you should have a bowl of freshly blended puree.

Some things to keep in mind are that the fruit all needs to be ripe, so that it’s soft and sweet. And all fruit needs to be well washed before using it.

As this recipe includes 3 different fruits, for very young babies we always recommend giving baby each ingredient on its own first, before using it in a combined puree like this.

This is to check for any allergies. Strawberries in particular are a food that can cause allergic reactions.

Give baby a little of each new ingredient first, at a time when they will be awake for a few hours after the meal, and check if there are any adverse reactions. If not then you can continue to offer this food to baby on its own or in combinations with other foods that they have tried.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • ⅓ large mango, ripe
  • 4 strawberries, trimmed

 

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly and peel the banana and mango.
  2. Chop into rough cubes.
  3. Place in a mixer and blend. Slowly add some sterilised water or some of baby’s usual milk until you get a smooth puree at the consistency that your baby likes.
  4. Serve for a fruity breakfast or mid-morning meal.

First make sure that you have ripe fruit. The mango especially must be soft and right to make a nice sweet puree.

Then simply peel and chop the fruit. Add it to a blender.

Blend the ingredients together. Then slowly add some sterilised water if necessary, or some of baby’s usual milk if you prefer.
