Cinnamon French Toast Sticks

No kid, big or small can resist French toast! Our Cinnamon french toast is Sunday morning comfort food at it’s finest. We have made our French toast into little sticks. That way they work as a finger food too that can easily be grabbed by little hands.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick, brown bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk (80mls)
  • 65 grams cane sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • pinch salt
  • maple syrup to serve (optional)

Instructions

  • Take 4 pieces of wholewheat bread and cut the crusts off. Cut each slice into three sticks.
  • Whip the eggs with the milk in a medium sized bowl and add a pinch of salt.
  • Mix your cinnamon and sugar and spread it out on a large, flat plate and set aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large fry pan.
  • Dunk each stick of bread into the egg mixture until fully submerged. Lift it out and allow the excess egg to drip off.
  • Lay the French toast sticks in the pan and cook on each side until they are golden.
  • Quickly remove them from the fry pan and place in the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll the French toast sticks until they are coated. It’s best to do this as soon as they come out of the pan so that the sugar and cinnamon sticks.
  • Serve with fruit and if you like, maple syrup.
